A Round Table Discussion on Capacity Building of Teachers and Schools in ICT was organised at Hotel Claridges on September 30, 2008. Shri Arun Kumar Rath, Secretary Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of HRD, Govt of India graced the discussion as chief guest.

Amongst the distinguished guests, Shri S C Khuntia, Joint Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Prof. Mohd. Akhtar Siddiqui, Chairman, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Jyrki Pulkkinen, Executive Director, Global e-Schools & Communities Initiatives were present at this workshop. We thank all the distinguished participants for having participated, and for contributing their valuable input and suggestions, in the workshop. Second Inter-Ministerial Meeting for Drafting a National ICT Policy in School Education.

The second Inter-Ministerial National Consultation on drafting the National policy on ICT in school education was held on March 12, 2008 under the aegis of Ministry of HRD with the help of their strategic partner Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative (GeSCI). The discussion was primarily based on Research and Innovation, School Information Management System, Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Private Partnership, Norms and Standards, Financing, ICT in Vocational Education, Open and Distance Education, ICT for Special Needs and Quality in School Education.

The first Inter-Ministerial Meeting for drafting a National ICT Policy in School Education was held on 13th February, 2008, in New Delhi, with the objective:

To conduct a collaborative, consultative and participatory process in making of the National Policy on ICT in School Education by involving Government Departments along with other stakeholders including the Educational Institutions, Private Sector, Experts, State Representatives and Civil Society.

On the agenda were Introducing Pre-Draft Policy document and taking the participants through the journey of the process undertaken so far in making of the draft policy and also apprise all about the roadmap planned to be followed. Conducting Interactive Session on the Thematic Focus Areas and thirdly, summarizing the feedback and planning the way ahead.
